New Luce Sheep dog trial
A massive entry of 57 dogs ran this year's trial at Airyolland. With so many entries, and a shorter day, the competitors were allowed only 11 minutes to complete the course. However, the weather and Autumn light was kind enough to allow all the dogs to see where to lift the sheep from the top of the hill. Long grass, heather, rashes and a hollow to navigate, before finding the sheep, made this rough hill course a true test of a trial dog. Tony Welsh's dog Jock proved masterful in controlling the stubborn Blackies and secured his victory with a confident lift, fetch, good pen and clean shed.
